MESSAGE, OCTOBER, 2011
Happy October. Thank you for being a member and for your
active attendance. Welcome back if you have just returned. We are always happy
to see you.
Weekly carving workshops
are from 8:30 to 11:00 AM every Tuesday in the Seminole Recreation Center,
second floor. Business meetings are the second Tuesday of each month between
September and May at 7 PM in the same location.
Our Tampa affiliate meets
on Monday evenings from 7:00 to 9:00 pm at the Carrollwood Cultural Center.

The Florida Woodcarvers
Roundup will be at the Long Center in Clearwater from Tuesday, March 20 –

The meeting was gaveled to
order by President Alan Anderson at 7:05 PM. Bill Briggs moved that the minutes
of the previous meeting be accepted as published. Seconded by Jack
Stewart. Accepted.
There was no treasurer’s
report.
OLD
BUSINESS
There was no old business on the
floor.
The Club’s lockable display case in the
lobby of the Seminole Rec. Center has been filled with members’ carvings.

NEW
BUSINESS
It was suggested by Mark
Daley that the Club hold a covered dish dinner or possibly reserve a block of tables
at Golden Corral during the Christmas Season. The suggestion is under
consideration.
PRESIDENT’S
CHALLENGE
The October challenge by President Alan Anderson was to create a
Christmas tree ornament.
SHOW
AND TELL
Jack
Stewart displayed a
Santa head on a green felt background in a barn wood frame and a Santa resting
on the moon.



Jervy
Paluta showed an
excellent stylized duck carved from sumac.


Karl
Allison presented a
running rabbit carved in cotton wood bark based on a pattern by Desiree Hajny.


Bill Briggs passed around
the September challenge for the
members to see. Blanks were provided in
the form of a heart, star, or cross shaped pin. They were then painted with elements of the American or Canadian
flag.

Alan Anderson distributed
flyers for next spring’s Florida Woodcarvers Roundup.
The meeting was adjourned
at 7:25 PM.

EVENTS
The 33rd Annual Heritage
Village Fall Jubilee will be held on Saturday,
October 22, 2011 from 9AM – 4PM.
